Michael "Mike" Thomas Gibbes, Jr., age 45 of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home Northport with Bro. Jared Case officiating and Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the celebration of life.
Michael was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on March 2, 1980 and is survived by his parents: mother, Rollin Jones Shamblin (Robert) of Northport, AL and father, Michael Thomas Gibbes (Carol) of Laurel, MS; sister, Casey Gibbes Whitson (Ryan) and nephews, Grant and Gibbes Whitson of Northport, Cret Shamblin of Northport, Kristen Colgrove (Joel) of Boligee, and Derrick Shelby (Melissa) of Zachary, La. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Billy J. Jones of Huntsville, AL and Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Denton Gibbes of Laurel, MS.
Michael was a graduate of Central High School in Tuscaloosa. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to many. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital.
