Michael Patrick Green, a lifelong resident of Park Forest, Illinois, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 29, 2025. Born on October 19, 1961, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, Michael was the cherished son of Reginald Alford Green and Lorna Jean Rooney.

Michael attended Rich East High School, where he discovered his natural talent for working with his hands. After graduation, he pursued a career as a carpet installer with a close friend, a path that eventually led him to a dedicated 25 year career with Sears. Michael was also a devoted member of St. Mary's Church in Park Forest until its closing.

In 1988, Michael met the love of his life, Denise Green, and the two were united in marriage on September 22, 1990. Their union was blessed with three children: Meghan Green, who preceded him in death; Molly Green; and Brandon (Perla) Green.

Michael was an avid Chicago White Sox and Bears fan. He loved making game predictions, always ensuring the Bears came out on top in his forecasts.

Curious by nature, Michael had a deep love for weather patterns, astronomy, and the phases of the moon. He frequently shared posts encouraging others to step outside and witness the beauty of the sky for themselves. His appreciation for the natural world extended to his cherished time spent at the Thorn Creek Nature Preserve, where he found peace among the trees and trails.

Michael had an extraordinary memory for detail, especially when it came to life in Park Forest during his youth. He had his very own Park Forest memories and could have been the "Park Forest historian" recalling the community's stories, landmarks, and moments with vivid clarity.

His passion for nature showed in the simple joys of life, especially in the long walks he loved taking with the family dog, Bella, who remained his loyal companion.

Michael was preceded in death by his loving parents, Reginald Alford Green and Lorna Jean Rooney; his daughter, Meghan Green; and his sister, Carol Dorn.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Denise Green; his children, Brandon (Perla) Green and Molly Green; his siblings, Reg (Beckie) Green, Tom (Kathy) Green, and Mary Ann Green; a host of nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Bella, who was truly his best friend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Suburban Humane Society,

21800 Central Ave., Matteson, IL 60443.

Or as Mike would say,

"Step outside and take a look at the moon."
