Michael Vincent "Griff" Griffin, 82, of Ottawa, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family.
A private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Memorial Park. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the Mueller Funeral Home on Ottawa. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home.
Michael was born on July 12, 1943 in Morris to Vincent and Mabel (Paul) Griffin. He was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School. Michael worked as a journeyman meat cutter and manager for Rudy's Grocery chain in Springfield and Ottawa. Later in life, he worked as a Chemical Operator and Lab Technician for G.E. Plastic. He married Julie K. Seaman on December 2, 1961 at Christ Episcopal Church in Ottawa. Michael was an Eagle Scout and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was an avid fisherman and was rated in the top 12 Bass Anglers in Illinois while fishing in the Bassmaster's State Qualifier. He was a family man with a big heart and a great sense of humor. Spending time with his family was very important to him.
He is survived by his wife, Julie K. Griffin, of Ottawa; two children, Julie A. (Robert) Polancic, of Ottawa, Michael J. (Marguerite) Griffin, of Colfax; five grandchildren, Vanessa (Matt) Douglas, Joseph (Chasity) Griffin, Melissa (Jason) Cottrell, Valerie (Albert) Contreras, Marcus (Rachael) Polancic; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Mabel Griffin; two brothers, James and Jack; three sisters, Ruth, Renee, and Delores.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
