Michael met his wife Agnes in 1955 at an Irish dance in New York City, they married in 1958. In 1967, they moved to Paramus where they raised their 4 children. They were married 50 years before she passed.
Cherished husband of the late Agnes (Kelly) Haran. Loving father of Michael Haran and his wife Joanne, Maureen Hommen and her husband Kurt, Edward Haran and his wife Lisa, and Eileen Rakowski and her husband Andrew. Loving grandfather of Kristin, Megan, Kelly, Kurt, Kevin, Matthew, Michael, Elizabeth, and Mary.

Before retiring, Michael worked for the New York Telephone Company. He was a veteran of the Korean War, an active and faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Visitation R. C. church, a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Holy Name Society, Bergen Irish Association, and the Pioneers Club.
Michael was most proud of his family and his country. He will be dearly missed by his loving family, neighbors, and friends. He will forever remain in their hearts as a source of inspiration, strength, and unwavering love.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday June 7, 2023 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 South Farview Avenue, Paramus, NJ. Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday June 8, 2023, at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Visitation R.C. Church 234 Farview Avenue Paramus. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
