Mr. Harris loved playing golf with family and friends. He played at various prestigious courses such as Kiawah Ocean Course and TPC Scottsdale in Arizona. Mike retired from FedEx after 37 years of service. His love for golf began at South Granville Country Club and most recently was a member of Mill Creek Golf Club where he was a part of the men's golf group. For 14 years, he played in the annual father/son golf tournament in Myrtle Beach and CGA couples golf event with his wife. He had an elite punchout game. Known as PaPaw, he loved his grandkids and watching them grow up. Mike was also a member of Eno Beach Shag Club.
Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of 49 years, Robin Hendley Harris; son, Mike Harris, Jr. and wife Erin; daughter, Stefanie Gartin and husband JT; grandchildren, Landon Thomas Harris, Camryn Flynn Harris, Adelyn Mae Harris, Xander Atlas Gartin; brothers, John Wesley Harris, Jr. and wife Charlene, Charles Edward Harris and wife Carolyn, Marvin Lee Harris and wife Brenda, Wallace Reid Harris and wife Debbie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 30th at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 28th at Clements Funeral Home.
Golf attire is encouraged by the family.
