Michael R. Hartlaub

Michael R. Hartlaub, age 79, of McSherrystown, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025 at his home. He was the loving husband of the late Linda J. (Jacoby) Hartlaub who passed away on January 27, 2008 and the late Patricia A. (Allen) Hartlaub who passed away on February 25, 2023.
Michael was born in McSherrystown, PA on May 31, 1945 and was the son of the late Joseph and Treva (Lyner) Hartlaub and worked as a welder for York International for 34 years prior to his retirement. Michael was a lifetime member of the former Brushtown Fire Company, now S.A.V.E.S., and a member of Life Discovery Church in McSherrystown. He also was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan and loved and cherished his dogs Pepper, Cricket, Chloe, Charlie, and Bella who all preceded him in death.
Michael is survived by his children Julia Babka (Dave), Cindy King, Laurie Grimes, Steve Bassler (Kim), Stacey Hawkins (Jeff Butler), Cynthia Gaver, Christopher Hartlaub (Elisa Bae), and Adam Hartlaub (Becky); his grandchildren Paige, Shawn, Seth, Sophie, Kylie, Jack, Lillie, Brittany, Troy, Asher, and Theo; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his stepchildren Michael, Eric, John, Sharon, Kevin, and Lynn Marie; his siblings Diane Miller and husband Bill, Ben Hartlaub and wife Katie; his brother-in-law Rich Huff; his sister-in-law June Hartlaub; and numerous nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his siblings Jean Huff, Phil Hartlaub, and Catherine Selvage, Margaret Wagaman, Joe Hartlaub, Jr., Thomas Hartlaub, and Gerald Hartlaub.
Michael's family would also like to express their deepest thanks and gratitude for the care and compassion of Grane Hospice during the last few months of their dad's life.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Michael's life will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 11:00AM at Life Discovery Church, 414 Main St., McSherrystown, PA 17344 with Pastor Gerry Stoltzfoos officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at Murphy-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, PA 17344 and on Thursday from 10:00AM – 11:00AM prior to the service at Life Discovery Church.
