Micheal Emery Hinchman passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, CO. He went by Mickey. His family was blessed that they had the opportunity to spend time with him leading up to his passing.
Mickey was born on October 26, 1953, in Delta, CO. He grew up in Eckert, CO and graduated from Cedaredge High School. During high school, he also earned his pilot’s license. Upon graduation he joined the army and went to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO for basic training and was then deployed to South Korea as a member of the Army Security Agency. When he came back from South Korea he was stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY. In 1973 Mickey married the love of his life, Vicki. Just before leaving the army, he started his family and moved back to Cedaredge, CO. He went to college and received his Electronics Degree and worked for the railroad and a few power companies mainly on the Western Slope. In retirement he split time between Cedaredge and Yuma, AZ.
Growing up he loved all sports, but especially football. He enjoyed going to sporting events, golfing, going to the gym and traveling with his wife, family and grandchildren. He also loved being around his dogs, Gigi and Lily. He enjoyed educating himself and then using that knowledge to fix things at work and at home. He loved to talk to other people and didn’t know what a stranger was. He was very easy to talk to and cared deeply for his family and those around him. We will miss him, but the love he had for his family and friends will live on.
He is survived by his wife Vicki Hinchman, mother June Hinchman, brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Kathy Hinchman, sister Sandy Lehigh, daughter and son-in-law Lisa Hampton Spragg and Jason Crowell, son and daughter-in-law Chris Hinchman and Shelley Rommelmann, and five grandchildren (Conner, Ethan, Kera, Gracie and Whitney) that he was so proud of.
He was preceded in death by his father Mike Hinchman, son Jason Hinchman, mother and father-in-law Al and Dorthy Conatser, brother-in-law John Lehigh and son in law Gary Spragg.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Hope West and the Hospice Care Center for the care and compassion that they extended to Mickey and his family.
