Michael Hobbs

Michael Scott Hobbs, a longtime resident of Maynard, passed away suddenly on January 24, 2026 at the Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was fifty-four years old.

Mike was born in Portsmouth, VA, son of Frederick and Linda (Simpson) Hobbs. He grew up in Maynard and was a graduate of Maynard High School with the class of 1989. Mike worked for over thirty years with the Massachusetts Department of Correction, earning the rank of Lieutenant. Mike had a love for football. He was a longtime coach for Maynard Youth Football and coached with Maynard High School for six seasons. A passionate outdoorsman, he loved to go fishing, especially at his summer home in Meredith, New Hampshire. He also enjoyed woodworking and cooking. More than anything, Mike loved his family, especially his three children. He will be dearly missed by his many friends and his family.

Mike is lovingly survived by his three children, Aiden Hobbs, Drew Hobbs and Madi Hobbs all of Maynard. He was the loving brother of Sue and her husband Darren Schumaker and Heidi and her husband Bill Brinklow, both of Tewksbury. Cherished brother-in-law, Tim and Denise Lawton of Maynard and Kris Pareago of Hubbardston. He also leaves his partner of five years, Erin McDonald of Maynard along with many nieces, nephews and a large loving extended family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, February 2nd from 4:00-7:00PM in the Acton Funeral Home 470 Massachusetts Avenue (Rte. 111) Acton.
