Michael W. Hodgeman
Feb 25, 1945-Jan 24, 2025
Michael W. Hodgeman, affectionately known as "Pop" to his loved ones, departed from this world on January 24, 2025, in Smyrna, Delaware, leaving behind a legacy of music and inspiration. Born on February 25, 1945, in Toronto, Canada, Michael's journey through life was full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. His life was a testament to the power of following your calling.
His illustrious career as a vocalist and singer began in the vibrant music scene of the 1960s in Baltimore,MD. With his powerful voice and magnetic stage presence, he performed with several bands including The RaVons, The Dynamics, Gary & the GTO's, The DuKays, Mike Jones & the Elegants, and Puzzle. His extraordinary vocal talent led him to be a cherished member of The Admirals, with whom he was inducted into the Maryland Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2016. This accolade was a crowning achievement, but his induction as an individual into the same Hall of Fame was a testament to his singular talent and enduring impact on the music industry.
Offstage, Michael's life was equally rich and full. He loved taking his children to the beach in Ocean City, MD, riding bikes, going fishing and playing ball. He deeply loved his children Tracy, Natalie, Toni, Gina, Johnathan and the late Michael Hodgeman. He shared a special bond with, and love for Brian and Danielle Hill, Jamie and Krissy Keeler, his sons-in-law, Gregory, Eric, Sol, and Pete, and his daughter-in-law Jamie.
Michael's grandchildren: Emily, Michael, Dean, Kaylee, Danielle, Rachel, Ramona, Brandon, Morgan, Tyler, Ben, Abigale, Karmin, Kayden, and Hailey and 7 great grandchildren (with another on the way) each added a unique note to the melody of his life.
Michael's sense of humor and ornery spirit were the hallmarks of his personality. He was a man who not only walked through life but danced through it, encouraging others to join in and sing along.
As we celebrate Michael's life, we are reminded of the indelible mark he has left on our hearts. His legacy is not just in the music he created, but in the lives he touched and the laughter he shared. Michael W. Hodgeman, "Pop," was a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and sang passionately. His spirit will continue to inspire and motivate us to embrace life with the same zest and vitality that he did. Michael's song may have ended, but its echoes will resonate forever.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at 1 PM at the Smyrna Opera House, located at 7 W. South Street in Smyrna.
