SHELBY- A speed enthusiast and adrenaline aficionado, Michael Adam Howell, raced through life from March 3, 1994, to December 5, 2025, clocking a swift 31 laps around the sun. Born and departed in Cleveland County, Michael lived life with the pedal to the metal, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and a few tire marks.
Michael was a mechanic by trade—a craftsman armed with a wrench and a knack for reviving engines almost as fast as his beloved motorcycles. His heart belonged to anything with an engine, and he spent countless hours tinkering under hoods and chasing the thrill of speed. When not in the garage, you'd find him perfecting his swing on the golf course or hustling pool with friends—always playing to win, but never forgetting to enjoy the ride.
Despite his need for speed, Michael always made time for those he loved. Known for his goofy grin and big heart, he was just a phone call away and never missed an opportunity to lend a hand or share a laugh.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Bob Jones, Michael Wright, and Gerald Standridge. Left to cherish his memory are his father, Adam Howell, and wife Lisa; his mother, Tara Burdett, and husband James; his siblings, Kaitlin Howell and boyfriend Westley, Bailey Marshall and husband Austin, and Lucas Howell; and his grandparents, Charlie Howell and wife Tanya, Janie Jones and Shirley Standridge.. His girlfriend, Morgan "Mo" Weiss, and his children, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles will forever remember the good times and the stories that live on.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, December 14,2025 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Ramsey officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home, where stories will surely be swapped and memories celebrated.
Though he sped off into the sunset too soon, Michael's spirit will continue to roar on the open road, free and unfettered, forever remembered as the kind-hearted, thrill-seeking soul we all loved.
