Michael P. Hurley, Sr. of New York, NY passed away at NYU Langone Medical Center away after battling a long illness on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the age of 68.
Michael was born in Astoria, NY, the son of the late Joan (nee Kelleher) and Eugene Hurley. He grew up in New Milford, NJ, raised his family in Old Tappan and spent time at the beach in Millsboro, DE before moving to New York City 10 years ago.
Michael had graduated from Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire and enjoyed a long, illustrious career as a salesman for Horizon Paper Co. in New York City until his retirement just two years ago.
An avid traveler, Michael found joy in discovering new places and creating memories with those he loved. He also had a passion for fishing and scuba diving- a pastime that brought him peace and reflection. His greatest past time was watching his son, Michael Jr., play football from middle school to college. There's no distance he wouldn't travel to see him play.
Michael had a special bond with his golden retrievers. His last dog, Gunnar, held a particularly dear place in his heart, providing comfort and companionship.
Michael was a caring husband, loving father and grandfather, a loyal brother, and a cherished friend to many, Michael is survived by his dear wife Vicky Hurley of New York City; his loving children, Dana Elliott and her husband Kyle of New Providence, NJ and Michael Hurley, Jr. of New York City; his cherished grandchildren, Brooks and Tess Elliott and his dear sisters, Susan Curry and her husband Michael and Rita Giardella and her husband Joseph and their children Paul and Gena. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and great stories.
