Michael Kenneth Johnson, passed away on July 14, 2024, in his home in Grand Terrace, California.
He was born on August 8, 1952, in Burbank, California. He graduated from Simi Valley High School in 1970 and joined the Air Force the same year. He proudly served his country in the Air Force for twenty (20) years retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1991.
He married his first wife, Vicky Johnson, in 1976, and became a father to her two children Christopher Rice and Cynthia Rice. They soon welcomed their son Michael William Johnson and then in 1986 welcomed their daughter DeAnna Marie Johnson.
The couple separated following Michael's retirement in 1991 and he soon met and fell in love with his second wife, Connie Johnson. After living together for 9 years, the couple tied the knot on September 1, 2000 and Michael officially became a father to Connie's son, Patrick O'Hare. Joining this blended family was Michael's first granddaughter, Katrina Rice, who came to live with the family in 1996.
Michael loved working in the yard, and you could always catch him outdoors working in his own yard or the surrounding neighbor yards. He grew up with a great love for Dodger Baseball and was a true blue Dodger Fan to the end. He was a true friend to all who knew him and would do anything he could to help out those in need.
Following the untimely death of his son Michael William in 2010, his life took on new meaning with the birth of his grandson, Wyatt Kenneth Johnson. They were true buddies, two peas in a pod, who enjoyed watching Nascar racing together, cheering on their favorite drivers and booing Kyle Busch. Wyatt grew up loving grandpa's "big blue truck" and he will now enjoy driving around in the "big blue truck" that brought him so much happiness with grandpa as a child.
Michael was predeceased by his parents Joy and Charles William Johnson, his sister Elizabeth Johnson, and his son Michael William Johnson. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving wife Connie, his brother Paul Johnson (Maria), his children Christopher Rice and DeAnna Johnson (Justin), grandchildren Katrina (Anthony), Wyatt, Alora and Cheyenne, great-granddaughter Ophelia and future great-grandson, Michael Anthony.
Private service to honor and celebrate Michael's life will take place at the Riverside National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.
Michael's life was a beacon of how to live with purpose and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but the memories he created will be a comfort to all.
