Michael Kalinowski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery on Sep. 28, 2024.
It is with great affection and tender memories that we remember Michael "Mike" Kalinowski, a lifelong resident of Evansville, who passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, at the age of 66 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 1, 1958, in the same beloved city, Mike was a man whose radiant smile and generous spirit were a blessing to all who knew him.
Mike's existence was a tapestry of relationships and passions. His dedication to his family was unwavering; he leaves behind a lineage of love and laughter. He is survived by his loving son Michael Kalinowski and siblings, Bernard and Rebecca Kalinowski. He was the proud patriarch to his nieces and nephews: Valerie, Jason, Shawn, and Brian, cherishing every moment spent with them. The family tree extended to include great-nieces and nephews: Jewel, Charissa, Levi, Zada, Mercedes, Terney, Brooklyn, Brittany, Sidney, Sarah, and Noah, as well as great-great-nieces and nephews Jay, Aiden, Zane, Amera, and Shawn. Each held a special place in his heart, and he embraced his role with joy and pride.
While Mike's journey on earth has concluded, his story was one marked by love, a narrative which began with his adoring parents Margaret and Marvin Kalinowski. Mike now joins his daughter Misty Myers, his brothers Marvin Jr and Larry Kalinowski, and great-nephew Brian, who preceded him in passing. The reunion of these souls stands as a testament to the cycle of life and the enduring bonds of family.
His professional life was as the owner of a successful lawncare business, a venture that began with a simple mower and grew through the sweat of his brow and the strength of his handshake. Colleagues and clients alike could count on Mike's reliability and the quality of his work, attributes that extended well beyond his business practices.
Mike's enthusiasm for life was infectious, and his interests were a reflection of his bold spirit. He adorable the outdoors including fishing and camping. His love for riding motorcycles was well-known among his friends; he found freedom on the open road, with the wind against his face and the engine's rumble as his traveling anthem. He approached life much like his rides: with excitement and without hesitation.
To those who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him, Mike was the epitome of a friend. He was loving, kind, and friendly - virtues that he did not just possess, but actively embodied. His presence could light up a room, and his absence will surely be felt by many.
Mike's final lesson to us all may very well be a reminder to seize the day, cherish our loved ones, and venture into the world with open arms and an unshakable zest for life, just as he did. We take solace in knowing that Mike rides on, free and unencumbered, in realms beyond our own. His memory and spirit shall endure forever in the hearts he touched and the lives he illuminated.
Visitation will be Wednesday October 2nd from 10am to 11am with service at 11am with burial to follow. Services will be held at Sunset Cemetery at the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum.

Mike spent a summer in Chicago living with his brother Junior. We hung out almost every day that whole summer. I was about 18 and Mike was 16. We did a lot of fun stuff and maybe got a little crazy. LOL RIP my cousin, I will miss you.
