Michael E. Karastury, age 82, of Dawn Dr. Meadville passed away Wednesday morning December 4, 2024, in Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in Etna, PA on June 25, 1942, a son of Michael S. and Fern (Rome) Karastury. He was a 1961 graduate of Linesville High School and served his country in the United States Army from 1961 until 1963. On September 5, 1975, Mike married the former Shannah Coston, she survives.
He was employed as a tool maker at Talon Zipper Company, Saegertown Manufacturing, and was the owner/operator of D & M Tool Co.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, bowling, golfing, camping, and sled riding. He was a member of Meadville Masonic Lodge # 234, Vernon Central, American Legion Post # 111, Meadville VFW Post # 2006, and Meadville Moose # 2505.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, he is survived by two sons, Wayne Karastury and his wife Senta of Conneaut Lake, Chad Kaltenbaugh and his wife Tammy of Meadville; three daughters, Michelle “Mickey” Zelasco and her husband David of Meadville, Shannon Rouse of North Carolina, and Heather Kebert of Carlton, PA; a brother, George Karastury and his wife Norma of Meadville, two sisters, Carol “Jean” Cicco and her husband Ron of Penn Hills, PA, Pat Porter and her husband Mike of Meadville 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Sandy Wills, two brothers Harry Camp, Daniel Karastury and an infant brother.
SERVICES: As per Mike’s wishes cremation was chosen and there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. 581 CHESTNUT ST. MEADVILLE.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriner’s, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505.
