Michael "Mike" Raymond Karl of Covington, Louisiana passed away peacefully on September 16, 2022 after a courageous fight against cancer. He is survived by his loving and dutiful wife of nearly 50 years, Christine Kirsch Karl. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrith R. Karl Sr. and Merdia Williams Karl, his sister Merrilline Karl Zuppardo and nephew Lenard Karl Zuppardo. He is survived by his daughter Jamie Marie Karl of California, his brother Merrith Roger Karl Jr. (Elen), and brothers and sisters-in-law Gasper Zuppardo, Marilyn Fourcade, Louise Darr (Peter), Barbara Kirsch, Dorothea Howard (Nick) and Christopher Kirsch. Anthony Kirsch, Geraldine Kirsch, and Larry Fourcade preceded him in death. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike shared a special bond with Alex and Kayla Dendinger and was fondly known as "PawPaw Mike" to their four children Margot, Miles, Eloise and Claude.
Mike was employed by Jefferson Parish Sign Department for over 33 years where his handy work landed him as shop carpenter. Mike was a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council 14614 and a devoted Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister, and parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Covington La. He was a loyal friend, always the first to lend a helping hand. His humble and kind heart will be greatly missed.
Services have been canceled at this time. The family will schedule services and they will be announced accordingly.

I lived on the same street as 'Big Mike' as everyone called him. This was when we were kids living on Lakeshore Dr. in Metairie. We all played together everyone on the street, went to each others houses, birthday parties, rode bicycles together, baseball, etc. He always said 'lota-this' instead of 'look at this'. His parents always decorated the outside of their house for Christmas as did we. There was a Christmas House decorating contest a couple of years for the neighborhood and one year his house came in 2nd place and my Mom 3rd place. Then one day he said his family was moving but he didn't know where, then we didn't have Mike anymore, us kids were sad he left. I think we have a picture, but will have to look for it
