Michael Scott Karns, known by family and friends as Mike, was born on December 9, 1965, in Marshall, Michigan. Mike departed this life on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at his residence in Mineral Point, Missouri. He was the beloved son of the late Thomas Martin Karns and Eleanor Helen (Napientek) Karns.
Mike grew up in Marshall and was a proud graduate of Marshall High School. He demonstrated a sense of duty and commitment by serving in the United States Marine Corps from 1987 to 1993. His time in the military instilled in him the values of discipline and perseverance. At the time of his passing, Mike was self-employed, specializing in water quality control.
Mike is survived by his brother Larry (Julia) Karns of Battle Creek, Michigan; his daughter Megan Lefevre of Marshall, Michigan; his son Michael Karns; and his grandson Lucas; and by two brothers-in-law, Dennis Wintersteen and Richard Simpkins.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Eleanor Karns, his brother Thomas Karns (Theora), and his sisters Donna Wintersteen and Rebecca Simpkins.
Mike's cremains will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan. Arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
