Michael L. "Mike" Kelly

Michael "Mike" L. Kelly, age 71, of Herbster, WI, and formerly of Superior, died Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Aspirus St. Lukes Hospital in Duluth, MN.

Mike was born July 9, 1954, in St. Paul, MN, and was adopted by Marcella (Buytaert) and Robert Kelly. Mike was a 1972 graduate of Superior Senior High School and continued his studies at UWS. He also attended Pace University in New York City where he received his Certificate of Insurance. He would go on to work as an insurance agent at Holden Insurance until his retirement. Recently, he worked part-time at the Cenex station in Bayfield, where he enjoyed serving and conversing with the customers.

Mike was also a retired volunteer firefighter for Herbster Fire Department. He enjoyed doing mission work for the Presbyterian Aide Association and spent time doing work after major hurricanes in the southwestern Gulf Coast. In his free time, he enjoyed sailing, golfing and cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers. Mike was most proud of his 39 years of sobriety.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mike is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda (Lightfoot) Kelly; his sons, Spencer (Becky) of Norwood Young America, MN and Austen (Katie) of Dunn, NC; grandchildren, Zach, Asher, Keely, Ziva, Rhett, Gideon, Finn, Nayeli, Zoey and Sophie; his sister Pat also of Superior. Additionally, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his longtime friend and "partner in crime" Gary Gulbrandson,

Visitation will be held on Friday February 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until the 6:00 p.m. Memorial Service at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th St., Superior.
