Michael John Kleinschrodt 1948-2025
Michael was born in Albert Lea, MN on April 28, 1948, to Herman "Casey" and Marilyn Kleinschrodt.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lola "Ellie" Kinnan Kleinschrodt; parents Herman & Marilyn Kleinschrodt; Brothers Max Kleinschrodt and Matthew Kleinschrodt; sister in laws Penny Buck, and Bobbie Munson.
Micheal married Lola "Ellie" Kinnan Kleinschrodt in 1982 and they were married for 40 years. They resided in Minneapolis, MN and had two children, son Patrick, daughter Stefani. Mike had a love for the outdoors, cars, and sports. He enjoyed wrestling and track in high school, and recreational volleyball and softball in adulthood. He was also part of The Clutchmen car club with his best friend Mario "Bud" Calderon, in Albert Lea. Michael was a vital part in ensuring that their children and grandchildren were able to make it to each practice, and games as well as tournaments throughout the Midwest.
He was active within his church and community including serving as the Scoutmaster of Troop 1 that met weekly in the church gym.
They loved traveling, especially to their lake cabin in Longville, MN as well as spending time outdoors fishing many Minnesota Lakes and hunting with his family.
Mike was able to travel to Alaska 2 times, once to fish with Patrick and another time with Ellie and a couple of his sisters, to fish and travel to the Arctic Ocean.
He loved going to the University of Minnesota football games and held season tickets for many years.
He spent most of his career working in the land acquisition department for Hennepin County. Prior to that he was a land surveyor and traveled the state surveying properties.
Mike was loved by many. He was in the later stages of Alzheimer's disease while he was hospitalized with pneumonia and sepsis. He was surrounded by family when he took his last breath.
Mike is survived by his son Patrick (Leah) Kleinschrodt; Daughter Stefani (Jeremy) Watson; grandchildren Liam, Gavin, Hayden, Landon, Carli & dog Bailey; sisters Rita (Rees) Orland of Albert Lea, MN; Roxanne "Roxie" (Charlie) Adams of Albert Lea, MN; Rochelle "Shelly" (Marty Banks) Kleinschrodt of Berkely, CA; and Rhonda Sorenson of Tacoma WA; brothers Mark (Linda) Kleinschrodt of Forest Lake, MN; and Miles (Dianne) Kleinschrodt of Alden, MN; "Brother" Mario "Bud" Calderon; as well as many nieces & nephews; great-nieces, nephews; friends and distant relatives.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00am on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Washburn-McReavy Nokomis Park Chapel, 1838 E. Minnehaha Pkwy, Minneapolis, MN, 55407. Refreshments will follow the service. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral with burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
