Michael Werner Korman, a beloved son, father, partner, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on his 82nd birthday, July 24, 2024, in Mt. Pleasant, MI. Michael was born on July 24, 1942, in Utica, NY, to Jerome Korman and Ethel Cohen Korman, both of whom preceded him in death.
Michael's life was a tapestry of dedication and diverse talents. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with honorable distinction as a Medical Corpsman with the HHS Btry 6th BN, 1st Arty Third US Army. He also pursued a degree in Biology from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI.
His professional journey was marked by versatility and commitment. Michael worked as a machinist at KTS Industries for 20 years. His true passion lay in music. As a skilled symphony violinist, he performed across Michigan, captivating audiences in Kalamazoo, Muskegon, Detroit, Battle Creek, Lansing, and Traverse City. Much of his time was also spent entertaining crowds as a street musician.
Michael is survived by his loving partner, Gail Korman. He is also remembered by his children, Ian (Apakorn) Korman, Michelle (Stephen) Nowak, and Tammy (Jim) Richard, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Isabel Nowak, Samantha Nowak, Arista Korman, Alynda Korman, Jeff Clark, James Richard and Brooke (Joshua) Andreas. His memory will be carried on by his stepmother, Gloria Korman, and his siblings: Cherie Korman, Sue (Paul) Apodaca, Marcia Gray-Ford, Carol Gray, and Doug Korman.
Michael's kindness, musical talent, and commitment to his family and community will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to honor his remarkable legacy. As well as a private service at Fort Custer.
