Michael David Lumpkin, lovingly known as David, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, in Conroe, Texas, at the age of 70. He was born on January 7, 1955, in Dallas, Texas, and resided in New Waverly, Texas, surrounded by family and friends who cherished him deeply.
David was the beloved son of Juanita Price and his stepfather, David Price. He is survived by his brothers, John Lumpkin and Mark Lumpkin; his daughter, Kristina Lumpkin; and his son, Paul Michael Laster Lumpkin. He was a proud grandfather to Christopher Zane Murphree, Hanna Lumpkin, Arel Lumpkin, and Mikala Lumpkin, who each brought him immense joy and pride. Additionally, David is survived by his cousins, Ericka Brent and Tiffany Fritz, and his dearest friend, Cary Tumlinson, who stood by him faithfully throughout his life.
David will be remembered for his infectious laugh; he had a natural ability to brighten the lives of those around him making him a cherished friend and family member.
A passionate woodworker, David had a remarkable talent for creating beautiful pieces from simple materials. His handcrafted works remain treasured reminders of his creativity, patience, and dedication.
In 2022, David embraced his faith more deeply and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 24, 2022. His faith brought him comfort and hope, and he cherished the promise of resurrection as expressed in John 5:28–29:
“Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life.”
Though David has passed from this world, his spirit, laughter, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, creativity, and devotion to family will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Dad. Your love, wisdom, and laughter will remain with us forever.
