Michael Maki Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Downs Funeral Home - Superior on Aug. 15, 2024.
Michael K. Maki, 43, of Superior and formerly of Duluth, lost his long battle with mental illness on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
Michael was born in Duluth on January 31, 1981, the son of Raymond and Beverly (Mallon) Maki. He graduated from Denfeld High School with the class of 1999.
Michael loved being in nature, especially his Boundary Waters trips with his crew. He enjoyed going deer hunting with Tom to the hunting shack. He was an extraordinarily good dancer and was known to show his skills off at weddings. He loved animals, was a good cook, and enjoyed watching the Vikings. He was a man of strong faith and was always helpful to others. He loved spending time with his children and taking them up the north shore, and was the giver of great teddy bear hugs.
He is survived by his children, Abbigail and Easton Maki; siblings, Patrick Maki, Anne Ensenbach, and Bonnie Wishart; mother of his children, Stephanie Jago; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Tom and Kim Rendulich; sister-in-law, Breanna Maki; nieces and nephews, Natalie, Caiden, Ben, Brooklyn, and Maddie; and special friend, Dan Nelson.
A Celebration of Michael's Life will be held on Monday, August 19th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th St., Superior.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Michael's name to his children's education fund.
If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, you can call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

I remember bringing Mike into the "Circle of Crust" at the hunting shack. He loved drinking camp coffee out of a thermos while on his deer stand. Your struggle with mental illness is over. R.I.P. Mike.
