Michael Dennis Mans passed away peacefully at his home on August 16, 2025, one day after celebrating his 81st birthday. He was born on August 15, 1944, in Detroit, MI, to Paul and Marion Mans.
A graduate of Grosse Ile High School and Adrian College, Mike went on to serve in the U.S. Army in the field of Army Intelligence at Fort Huachuca in Tucson, AZ. While in college, he met the love of his life, Patricia, his wife of 55 years. After his service, Mike and Patti returned to Grosse Ile, where they built a life together and raised their two children.
As a generational family business owner, along with his partners, Mike was respected as a man of utmost integrity and admired for his dedication to his family and community.
After retiring, Mike and Patti split their time between their favorite places—Naples, FL, Put-In-Bay, OH, and Grosse Ile, MI. Mike was an “ok” duck hunter, average golfer, excellent boater, but most of all loved sharing countless adventures around the world with Patti. Known for his whit, humor and charm he was also deeply committed to serving others. He served as board chairman of both Riverside and Oakwood Hospitals in Trenton, MI, and was a principal member of the Grosse Ile Airport Commission, where he played an instrumental role in their growth and development.
In recent years, while living in Naples, Mike dedicated his time as a mentor with the Champions for Learning Organization and was active in the New Canaan Society, where he strengthened his faith and friendships.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Patti; his children Christopher (Trisha) Mans and Kara (Matt) Head; his cherished grandchildren, Grace Mans, Gabe Mans, Lydia Mans, Elizabeth Head, and Andrew Head. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Marion Mans, and his brothers, Richard and David Mans.
He lived as he died—on his own terms.
