Robert Asber Solomon. Age 74 of Brownstown.
Robert Asber Solomon, 74, born November 14, 1950, died peacefully at home on July 16, 2025. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Merle Solomon. He leaves to celebrate his life his siblings, Laura, George, Harold, Carol, Cathy (the late Paul) and Doug (George Crowley), loving nieces, nephews and cousins, and many, many friends.
A graduate of the Grosse Ile High School Class of 1968, Bob umpired Little League Baseball, was on the honor roll, lettered 3 years in varsity Baseball and played varsity Basketball, during which he set the school rebound record his senior year. Bob went on to graduate from Albion College in 1972, where he played basketball and was co-captain of the team.
Bob was one of the most reliable executives in local businesses, working for Great Lakes Steel through 1992, Packline until 1996 and since, for Hancock Enterprises.
An avid golfer, he was also a member of the Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club, where he served on the Board of Directors, and as Treasurer ahead of being Club President from 1990-1991. In this role, he left a lasting impact, as to this day, the "3-bid" requirement is affectionally called "the Bob Solomon rule". To date, he continued to enjoy outings and tournaments with family and friends.
Bob was a great brother, a great friend, a great athlete, and a great all-around person. As noted by Bob's college basketball coach, "if I were to choose one whom my own son might emulate, Bob would certainly fill my every expectation. This selfless young man has been a pleasure to coach; we will all miss him dearly'.
No true words were spoken then and of course; they still hold true now. The "Gentle Giant's" presence, smile, and laughter are unmatched, and will truly be missed by so many.
