Michael Alan Mathias, 55, passed away unexpectedly at Riverside Hospital on December 9, 2023. He was born on April 22, 1968 in Columbus, Ohio.
Mike graduated from Bishop Watterson High School in 1986. After graduation, he began working at Nationwide Insurance in the mail room. He worked his way up through the ranks of Information Technology at Nationwide providing 37 years of dedicated service to the company.
Mike is preceded in death by his mother and father, Donald (Gene) and Louise Mathias as well as his nephew Patrick Bruce. He is survived by his son Andrew (Kayla) Mathias, sister Patty (Joe) Sofranko, brother Tom (Ruth) Mathias, as well as a niece Anne Mathias, a nephew Alex (Samantha) Williams and a great nephew Maverick Williams.
Mike was a football fan who could be found cheering on his favorite teams the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He was an avid computer gamer and enjoyer of Star Trek. All of his friends would ask him for advice on a good bottle of wine as he was a self taught wine connoisseur.
Friends and family can be received from 10am – noon on Friday December 15th at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street where a Funeral Service will begin at noon. Mike will be laid to rest following the Funeral Service at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
