This makes me so sad! He was an incredible person. He was an inspiration to all of us in Area 7, transportation. Although we weren´t related by blood, I truly considered him, family! Mike, may the angels greet you with open arms. ....until we meet again, brother

When I first met Mike during the transportation academy, I realized that he was just a genuinely great person. His quick sense of humor got us through many crazy times over the years. His patience as I asked a million questions was unwavering, and his advice was always spot on. Mike, enjoy your eternal 5:00 somewhere. Hope to see you on the other side someday.

To the Mazza family, please know my thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate the upcoming months.

I have not had the pleasure of working directly with Mike, but I have heard many stories. His impact on his fellow employees is still felt years later. My condolences.

Wow. This hit home.. Mike and worked for many years together at Fairfax County. From drivers then working our way up the ladder. Oh the fun we had. He was a kind man and always treated you with a giant smile and those Red cheeks.. when he went to Area 7 I would always stop in and ask him why they had put BaeBae in the corner when they were remodeling. I loved it. He always asked how my kids were doing and with no fail he kept up
With my son and his wrestling. A true friend he was..

It breaks my heart to see/read that he has moved onto greener pastures. When we both retired that´s when I truly realized how much the people that I came into connection with and met in Fairfax meant to me..

Fly High My Dear Friend. You Deserved Those Golden Wings. Keep smiling down on all that loved you.. We will meet again Mike..

My deepest condolences to the family. Mike was a good, kind man. I had the pleasure of working with him for a number of years at Fairfax County Public Schools, until his retirement in 2020. Mike always offered genuinely kind greetings to everyone; would inquire how others, and their family members, were doing; and offer assistance when and where he could. He had a great sense of humor and often joked - he enjoyed a good laugh. Mike did not take himself too seriously and took any razzing directed at him in a humble, laidback way but also didn't mind razzing others in return (but always in a good natured and fun manner). He was a positive person, a calm influence in the office, and always, always a joy to work with. Mike was a beloved coworker to many in FCPS, was missed much when he retired, and will be missed even more now that he has moved beyond this earthly existence.

I am thankful to have known, worked with, and shared time and laughs with Mike. Enjoy your family reunion on the other side of the veil, Mike! Wishing much comfort to Mike's dear family.

Sincerely,

-John McCracken
