Michael Duane McCartney, 63, of Lacon Illinois, died on March 26, 2025 at OSF St Francis Emergency in Peoria Illinois. He was born in Peoria on April 11th 1961 to the late Calvin Wayne and Delores (Greathouse) McCartney.
Mike spent his life as a farm hand in the Sparland area starting out at Riddell Hereford's for over 10 years. He then worked at International Supply and Princeville Pallet for a time before heading back to farming, helping on the Bogner and Kenyon Farms. He then spent the last 14 years working for the Monier Seed and Service Company in rural Sparland.
Mike loved wrestling starting with All-Star wrestling back when he was a kid, following it all the way up to the WWE. His favorite wrestlers were the Undertaker and Sting. He liked Dale Earnhardt & NASCAR, the Pittsburgh Steelers, fishing and country road trips. Most of all Mike loved the grandkids and spending time with them.
Mike is survived by his fiancé Angela Steele of Lacon; daughters Nichole McCartney-Rupp of Peoria, Natalie McCartney of Kewanee Illinois; Brothers Doug (Francine) McCartney of Chillicothe Illinois, Tim (Joe Nebergall) McCartney of Okeechobee Florida; sister Jessica Wilson of Chillicothe; step children Brandon (Lauren) Munoz-Steele of Carrier Mills Illinois, Brett Munoz-Steele of Lacon, Tarahelenia Munoz-Steele of Lacon, Jessicia (Chris) Fandel of Missouri, Anthony Steele of Chicago; 10 grandkids, 10 step grandkids; and many nieces & nephews.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial visitation will be held on April 5 2025 at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon from 10am to 12pm with burial in the LaPrairie Cemetery immediately following. Memorials can be made to LaPrairie Cemetery Fund and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com.
