Michael J. McGuire 1960 to 2025
With profound sadness we share the sudden, unexpected passing of our beloved Michael J. McGuire, who left us on September 26, 2025 at the age of 65. Born in Fort Eustis, Virginia to parents, Wallace, J. McGuire (preceded in death) and Eldean McGuire of Manassas, Virginia.
He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth and three children: Rachel (McGuire) and Bradley Cavin of Greenville, South Carolina; Gordon and Ashley (Fenn) McGuire of Golden, Colorado; and Nicholas McGuire (Paul Carey, III) of Manassas Park, Virginia; and five grandchildren: Erik, Camryn, Alice, Archer and Nolan. He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Linda (McGuire) and Allan Rhoades of Palm Bay, Florida. Michael also leaves behind a large and much-loved extended family and friends.
Michael and Elizabeth met as teenagers in Manassas Virginia talking on the CB radio, Big M (16) and Pooh Bear (14), respectively. The local CB teens would gather for flag football on the weekends. Elizabeth, her four siblings, and their parents Newton and Anne moved to Broad Run, Virginia in 1978 and this is where Michael and Elizabeth met once again. They married in 1981.
After Michael's brief stint in the army with training as a communication specialist, they settled in Linden, Virginia, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains to raise their children. Michael was a subcontractor for NOVEC for almost 30 years, with the majority of that time spent working for LEO construction in Loudoun County Virginia. The years in Linden while their children were growing up were filled with many adventures such as camping trips, beach, trips, exploring nature, sporting events, school band performances, parades, and blessed with many gatherings with both sets of grandparents. Michael and Elizabeth had "epic" Fourth of July celebrations for several consecutive years where Michael was the pyrotechnic master. Family and friends alike shared so much love, laughter, and joy at our home. Their house was a welcome gathering place for many of the children's friends over the years where there was always room around their table.
Michael and Elizabeth left the Blue Ridge in 2012 and charged into their next chapter by the sea, buying a small motel in Callao, Virginia, where they have resided for 13 years. It is here that they continued to share as much love and light to those that have crossed their paths these years.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
