**Obituary for Michael Charles McTamney**
June 25, 1959 - March 10, 2026
Michael "Mike" Charles McTamney Sr., 66, of
Hamilton, NJ-a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend-passed away peacefully at home on March 10, 2026. Mike was known for his love of family, his passion for sports, and his unwavering belief that everything would always work out.
Mike was born in
Trenton, NJ and attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick. Alongside his wife and high school sweetheart Nancy, he spent many treasured years in
Toms River, NJ, where they raised their three children, Kim, Mike Jr., and Becky. Most recently, he resided in
Hamilton, NJ.
Mike always made his family his top priority, cherishing the laughter and joy shared together. He was a proud and loving Pop to Johnny and Jaiden Seals; Taylor and Samantha McTamney; and Ben and Eleanor Schaen.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Mike followed many professional sports, but none surpassed his love for football and the Philadelphia Eagles. He was also the commissioner of the family's "Don't Worry, Be Happy" Fantasy Football League for more than 15 years-a role he ran with dedication, good humor, and just enough friendly competition to keep everyone on their toes.
He also took great pride in coaching for Toms River Little League when his children were young, positively impacting the lives of many young athletes. His compassionate spirit also shone through during his years as a volunteer EMT with the Pleasant Plains First Aid Squad.
Mike enjoyed a notable career at Pep Boys, where he dedicated more than 35 years to the company before retiring as AVP of Property Management. His leadership, integrity, and work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ruth (Beal) McTamney; his brother, Matthew "Matt" McTamney; his mother- and father-in-law Nancy and Stephen Wayda; his sister-in-law, Holly Fuller; and his brother-in-law, Michael "Scott" Wayda.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy McTamney; his three children and their spouses, Kimberly and John Seals Jr., Michael and Christa McTamney, and Rebecca and Andrew Schaen; and his beloved grandchildren, John and Jaiden Seals, Taylor and Samantha McTamney, and Benjamin and Eleanor Schaen.
He is also survived by his father, Charles McTamney and wife Pat; his siblings, Mark and Donna McTamney, Martin "Marty" and Dana McTamney, Patrick Mitchell "Mitch" and Barbara McTamney, and Marlene McTamney; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Steven Wayda, Brian Wayda, Robert and Carla Wayda, and Christina and Michael Ogrodnik; and his aunt Virgina "Cookie" Perry, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services will be held privately for the immediate family. There will be no open calling hours or public services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd.,
Hamilton, NJ 08619.
While his physical presence will be deeply missed, the love, laughter, and memories we shared will forever remain in our hearts. And as Mike always reminded us, "Don't Worry, Be Happy! Everything is gonna be alright."
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Michael's memory to Little League at www.littleleague.org, so families can make lasting memories as they did.
