Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home on Mar. 18, 2025.
On March 12, 2025, Michael Joseph Minihan lost a hard-fought battle against Alzheimer's disease.
Mike was born in Topeka, Kansas on April 29, 1948, to Michael and Rosalie Minihan. He often spoke fondly of childhood memories in Kansas. His father's civil service job moved the Minihan family to Mobile, Alabama in 1960 and later to San Antonio, Texas in 1967. Mike attended catholic parish elementary and high school in Topeka and Mobile. He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Economics from Saint Mary's University in San Antonio.
Growing up, Mike was taught to always put faith and family first. This became a moral compass by which he measured his life. Mike and his siblings often said that their parish church was an extension of their family. Mike served as an altar boy, later as a sacristan, and attended seminary for 2 years. Mike received the Sacrament of the Sick twice while in Memory Care,
surrounded by his family.
On May 29, 1971, Mike married Wanda Louise Boggs. They shared 53 years of their lives together in marriage and were blessed with two daughters Jennifer Minihan (spouse-Nik Kolatkar) and Kathryn Brumley (spouse-Lance Brumley). God continued to shower blessings of 5 beautiful granddaughters, Sophia Brumley, Vivienne Kolatkar, Sydney Brumley, Rosalie
Kolatkar, and Sage Brumley. His love for ALL HIS GIRLS was beyond measure.
Mike also had a passion for sports, especially college football. He and Wanda were excited to watch games together during college football season. His two favorite teams were K-State and Alabama. He attended his last K State game in 2022. Go cats!! He played baseball growing up and became an Atlanta Braves fan.
Mike was very driven and successful in his careers. He was president of Alamo Savings and Loan located in San Antonio, Corporate Manager of Martin Food, located in Houston, and Office Manager of Texas Insurance Agency located in Houston Texas.
Mike LOVED babies. Particularly treasured were his daughters and granddaughters but at large extended family gatherings, there was often a baby, and Mike was in his element walking or holding the baby.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents Mike and Rose Minihan and his brother Steve Minihan. He leaves his memory to be cherished by his wife Wanda, children Jennifer and Kathryn, grandchildren, brother Joseph Minihan (spouse-Sharon Minihan), sister Ann McDonald (spouse-Mike McDonald), brother-in-law Glenn Boggs (spouse-Betty Boggs), nieces, nephews, great
nieces and great nephews. We will forever miss his presence at family gatherings and remember his devotion to his family and his Catholic faith.
We love you. We will miss you. We will continue to love and live your legacy.
