Michael Paul Mooney, a beloved husband, devoted father, and man of extraordinary practical genius, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born on April 23, 1946.

Michael was defined by his powerful work ethic and a deep, natural intuition for how things operate. Though a high school dropout, he applied his rare aptitude-a simple, honest ability to fix what was broken-every day as a mechanic, founding and successfully running Mooney's Repair Service until the time of his death. Through the tireless grit and integrity demonstrated in his business, Michael built a strong, secure life for his family.

Above all, Michael's life centered on his family, and he took quiet, immense pride in his two sons. He leaves behind his loving wife, Kathleen Mooney, and their devoted son, Nathaniel Mooney, and daughter-in-law, Olivia Giles, whom he was so fond of. Michael was preceded in death by his firstborn son, Christopher Mooney, who passed away in 2004-a profound loss he carried deeply.

He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law; many loving nieces and nephews; other dear relatives; and countless friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lydia (nee Mueller); his brothers Dennis and Patrick; his sisters Delores Knutowski, Roeseellen Sokol, Arlene Reed, Mavis Smith, and Barbara Thompson; and his sister-in-law Margaret Detro.

His presence-his quiet strength, his wisdom, and his unwavering commitment to his family-will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 28th from 4-6PM at the Heritage Funeral Homes, 16880 W. National Ave.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's memory to the Wisconsin Humane Society.
