Michael Morgan
(1971 – 2024)
Michael Morgan, age 53, of Palmdale, Calif., died peacefully in his sleep at home on Sept. 2, 2024, from an unforeseen cardiac issue.
The Wisconsin native dedicated nearly 30 years of his career as a school psychologist at Antelope Valley Union High School District, where he was recognized by his colleagues as “a conscientious school psychologist who always looks out for the best interests of his students.”
Michael enjoyed the outdoors, including camping with friends, water skiing, swimming, fishing (catching a 30-inch Muskie at age 8) and rooting for the Green Bay Packers. He was also a voracious reader who loved traveling and accompanying his family on many adventures at Disney World.
He attended Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School through 8th grade and then Ladysmith High School before earning both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Kerm Morgan. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Morgan, and their children Leyla Morgan and Jordan Morgan; siblings, Michelle Morgan, Maureen (Mark) Winter, and Brian (Ashley) Morgan; and his mother, Carole Morgan.
Michael took immense pride in his children’s achievements and supported them wholeheartedly in their lives. His mother recalls he had a “loving, sensitive and kind soul” who was very protective of his younger sister Michelle, who accompanied him on road trips and played many hands of canasta. Sister Maureen said Michael had a “hilarious dry sense of humor” and loved California's scenic beauty. Michael’s cousin Will Rogers fondly recalled his fun-loving attitude and many teenage adventures.
Michael is remembered for being “conscientious and hard working” from an early age, having helped set up his hometown pharmacy's first computer system when he worked there during high school. During his professional career, Michael helped launch Antelope Valley’s first Behavior Management Program to provide crisis intervention services to students with severe emotional difficulties.
A visitation will be held at Halley Olsen Chapel of the Valley from 4 to 6 on Tuesday, September 24th and a Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart church on Wednesday, September 25th at noon, followed by a burial service at Good Shepherd at 1:30.
