Michael Stephen "Steve" Morrison

Michael Stephen "Steve" Morrison, 75, of Ankeny, Iowa, passed away on November 18, 2025, in Des Moines due to natural causes and complications from cancer. He was born on August 4, 1950, in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

He worked as a steamfitter on notable projects including the Des Moines Civic Center and the Botanical Center. He later served the Norwalk School District from 1986 to 2011 and also worked at Willow Creek Golf Course. He was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 33, completing his apprenticeship from 1975 to 1979, and was also a member of the Marine Corps League.

A proud veteran, Steve served in the United States Marine Corps on active duty from 1970 to 1972 and in the Reserve from 1973 to 1976. He was part of the 1st Division, 3rd Battalion, 5th Regiment, and was a Vietnam War veteran.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. Morrison and Henrietta P. Morrison (Curtin), both of Des Moines.

Steve is survived by his partner, Denise Monroe Bull of Ankeny; her two daughters, five grandchildren, and one great-grandson; his sisters Maureen Schneider of Iowa, Sue Watkins of Missouri, and Paula Winston of Oklahoma; his children Michael Patrick of Iowa, Jenifer of Texas, Justin of Iowa, and Steffan of New Zealand; his grandchildren Devin, Ethan, Nicholas, Colin, Caleb, Carter, Dakota, and Bryce; and his great-granddaughter Marley.

He was educated at St. Augustine's School and Valley High School in Des Moines. Steve enjoyed family gatherings, traveling to Hawaii, watching Westerns, fishing, and automobiles.

Visitation will be at Iles Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, November 29th from 10 AM to 2 PM.
