Michael Charles Mullin was born March 20, 1943 to Adele Whelpley Mullin and Charles Mullin, and later welcomed his loving sister Joan and musical brother Dennis.
Mike had a diverse career in the sales and hospitality industries. He worked for Fordion Packaging for 30 years and enjoyed his time as a maître d' for Rosebud and Town and Country Catering for more than 20 years. One of his first jobs, however, led him to his self-proclaimed best stroke of luck: in the fall of 1964, a beautiful young woman came into the gas station where he worked – Mike loved a great car – with a flat tire. For some reason, she returned to the station over the next few months and, finally, Mike got the nerve to ask Julie Magnus on a date. She said yes and the two never looked back, marrying in 1968. His love for Julie was pure and genuine: they were the best of friends and the love of each other's lives, setting an example for countless others as to the nature of a committed married life.
Mike loved music and was partial to Sinatra and especially to "New York, New York". He also never failed to smile at the song "Last Dance", knowing that a well-hosted event was coming to its conclusion. Mike and Julie welcomed their son, Michael John, in 1974. Julie, Mike, and Michael had many fine adventures together, including Yankee games, Broadway shows (always preceded by dinner, a tradition that Michael, Vickie, and Conor will no doubt carry on), Cosmos in the evening, and also many a quiet night at home together enjoying a good tv show (Seinfeld, anyone?). They vacationed each summer at the Jersey Shore and traveled to California and their beloved Hawaii. Michael's talent as a world-class bowler meant trips literally around the world, with Mike cheering on from the stands.
Mike was delighted to welcome Vickie to the family as his daughter-in-law, and in 2009, grandson Conor joined the family. Mike loved taking Conor to modeling and acting auditions in the city, and somehow always found a Mr. Softee at the end of each trip for their special treat. Modeling gave way to baseball, and Mike traveled far and wide for Conor's games, joining his family to cheer on their gifted catcher.
Sadly, Julie predeceased Mike in 2024; Michael, Vickie, and Conor joined him in the family home and ensured that his last months were filled with family and love. In addition to his beloved Michael, Vickie, and treasured grandson Conor, Mike is survived by his sister Joan Goldberg and her daughters Samantha and Kimberly and brother Dennis Mullin and his children, Heather, Matt, and Amanda, as well as by cousins and many friends. Mike also kept close relationships with Julie's many cousins, nieces, and nephews in the Heilferty, Massey, and Verrier families.
Mike's life will be celebrated in a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, July 18, 2025 at 10 am at St. Catharine of Alexandria, 523 Western Hwy South, Blauvelt, NY 10913. Family and friends are also welcome to visit Thursday, 3-7 pm, Sorce Funeral Home, 728 West Nyack Road,
