Michael Albert Oostdyk, fondly known as Mikey by his friends and family, was born on October 16, 1967, in Mount Vernon, OH, and passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023, in Aurora, IL. Known for his great sense of humor, sharp intellect, and friendly demeanor, Mike was a beloved figure in his community and will be sorely missed.
Mike was blessed to have been born into a loving family. He was the cherished son of Carol and Larry Oostdyk, who instilled in him the values of kindness, hard work, and respect for others. His sister, Jamie McIntyre, was his loyal confidant and best friend, with whom he shared countless memories. Later in life, Mike found the love of his life, Kimberly, and together they created a beautiful family. Their daughter, Kirby, was the apple of Mike's eye, and he took great pride in watching her grow into a wonderful young woman.
A lifelong learner, Mike pursued a career in Mechanical Maintenance, a field he was deeply passionate about. His dedication and commitment to his work were evident in his role as a Maintenance Mechanic, where he was recognized for his meticulousness, problem-solving skills, and commitment to excellence. Mike's colleagues admired his professionalism and his ability to bring a little bit of fun to the workplace.
Outside of his professional life, Mike had a wide range of interests that reflected his vibrant personality. He was a die-hard fan of the Green Bay Packers, and Sundays would find him cheering on his favorite team with unmatched enthusiasm. His love for music was another significant part of his life, with Elvis and Johnny Cash being his favorite artists. Mike was also known for his impressive collection of Vans shoes, always keeping up with the latest trends. However, nothing brought Mike more joy than spending quality time with his family, creating memories that they will now cherish forever.
Those fortunate enough to have known Mike remember him as a man of great humor and intelligence. His quick wit and friendly nature made him a joy to be around, and he was always ready with a funny anecdote or a kind word. He had the rare ability to make people feel instantly at ease, and his presence made any gathering brighter.
While we mourn the loss of a remarkable man, we also celebrate the life of Michael Albert Oostdyk. His life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and dedication. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, particularly his devoted wife Kimberley, his adored daughter Kirby, his caring mother Carol, his respected father Larry, and his loving sister Jamie.
Mike's legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him to live life with passion, kindness, and a sense of humor. As we remember Mike, we reflect on his life filled with love, laughter, and dedication. He may not be with us physically, but he will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of light guiding us through the journey of life. Rest in peace, Mike. Your memory will forever be a treasure to us all.
