Eugene R. "Gene" Oostdyk

Eugene R. "Gene" Oostdyk, 86, of Huntley, Illinois, died peacefully, April 16, 2024.
Eugene was born September 18, 1937, in Chicago, the son of Raymond and Crescentia Oostdyk. On September 2, 1961, he married Donna M. Orlick. He worked in accounting and later in computer programming. Gene was an avid golfer and he enjoyed playing cards and working crossword puzzles. He was an enthusiastic sports fan and he enjoyed cheering for his favorite Chicago teams--the Cubs, the Bears, and especially the Blackhawks. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Donna Oostdyk, his nephew Joseph (Pam) Buras, Jr., and his niece, Michelle Franz. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Carol.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 3-5pm with a short prayer service at 5pm, all at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
