Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tres Hewell Mortuary - Seguin on Feb. 5, 2025.
Michael Leslie Pace, age 81 of Seguin, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025. A man of very strong faith for most of his adult life, Mike has gone home to be with the Lord.
Mike was born on August 7, 1943, in Beaumont, Texas to Vivian Loretta (Johnston) and James Royce Pace. He graduated from Texas City High School in 1961 and was a decorated athlete for his alma mater. Mike went on to Lamar College, before beginning his career in sales. Mike met his first wife Liz, and married in 1964. Two daughters and a son later, Mike moved his family to Seguin to follow a blossoming sales career.
Mike was a born salesman, as he was a natural at building relationships. He never met a stranger, and he truly loved being with people. Working for several companies throughout his career, Mike had a long and successful career, retiring in his 70's.
Mike loved sports and everything that came with it. As an athlete, he excelled and had a competitive spirit. From his glory days on the Texas City High School gridiron, to countless hours of driveway pick-up basketball with his son. Mike enjoyed many years of competitive softball into his 40's.
Mike was a devout Christian throughout his life, and spent most of that time serving the Episcopal Church. Mike dove headfirst into fellowship, participated in church committees, and even embarked on a mission trip to Honduras. Later in life, he continued his spiritual journey in the Baptist Church. His relationship with the Lord kept Mike strong through the toughest of times, and prepared him to face anything.
Mike was a devoted husband. Tragically widowed, more than once – he picked himself up and moved forward each time. God blessed Mike with new love both times. Mike was an incredibly loving man, and served the women in his life as he thought they should be.
A loving father, Mike devoted his time and love to his 3 children. Raising two daughters and a son, Mike was a wonderful father. He met parenting challenges head-on, and was always there for his kids, and eventually his grandkids.
Mike is preceded in death by his wives, Elizabeth "Liz" Pace and Susan Lowry Pace, and his parents. Survivors include his loving wife, Beth Pace; daughters, Kelly Pace Weaver and husband Jim, Leslie Pace Barry and husband Chris; son, Michael Pace and wife Mindy; grandchildren, Lyndsay Shearrer and husband Taylor, Garrett Weaver, Meredith Barry, Josephine Barry and Samson Pace; great-granddaughter, Kinley Shearrer; brother, Richard Pace and wife Ellen; Beth's son, Bill Fort and wife Alice and their children, Jordan Fort and wife Mariah and their children, Eli and Alyssa, and Tyler Fort and wife Anna; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.
A memorial service celebrating Mike's life will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Brice Mandaville officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
