Michael E. Palubicki

Michael Eugene Palubicki passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the age of 78 surrounded by family and friends. He was born on April 10, 1946, to Estelle and Ralph Palubicki. He grew up in Mount Prospect and spent his adult life mostly in Island Lake Illinois.
Mike (aka Mickey or Mikey) was known in local taverns as "The Polack" and made many friends along the way. He was famous for his seamless wallpapering skills, and many can say they had him work in their homes. He would install wallpaper and years later take it down to replace with whatever was popular at the time. He was great at teaching drywall and taping skills as his grandson Kyle can attest.
Mike was an avid sports fan. He loved the Cubbies and watched golf & football. He also loved to travel- he went on an Alaskan cruise three times, a Mediterranean Cruise in 2006 and the Panama Canal in 2010.
Family meant everything to him. Every day since March 2020 Mike would FaceTime his family at 4 pm. He even included his ex-wife Lynn (Butch) Boyer. To know him was to love his bigger than life heart.
Mike leaves behind a loving wife of almost 36 years, Patty (nee Parent) and his three kids Lisa (Kent) Oliver, Paula Gomoll (Dean) & James Palubicki. His seven beloved grandchildren include Kent Oliver, Kyle (Jennifer) Oliver, Sarah (Brad) Fox, Janeece, Hanna, Hailee and Ross Gomoll. His seven great-grandchildren are Lily, Regan, Ada, Ruby, Taylor, Brylee and Raffy. He also leaves behind two brothers Dennis (Lori), Peter (Nancy) Palubicki and many nieces & nephews. He has two sister-in-law's Barbara DelGreco and Jo-Ann Periman. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Marge Zander, brother Randy Palubicki and two nephews Bobby & Michael Zander.
An Open House Celebration will be held from 11 to 6 at Hermann's Rest A-While located in Fox River Valley Gardens Subdivision at 300 S Center Street, Port Barrington Saturday, March 8th. Come by anytime and raise a glass to Mike.
