Lana Palubicki (nee Carter) passed away on March 28, 2024, at the age of 70 following a lengthy battle against cancer. Despite the obstacles that her health caused, Lana faced each day with courage and a smile.
Born on January 18, 1954, to Jack and Ruby Carter, Lana was a lifelong resident of Crandon, WI. Much like her, she was proud of the resiliency of the Crandon community where she met many of her beloved friends. Lana was an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and Women's Group, the Crandon Community Guild and also led a fundraising event to raise money for those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Upon graduating from Crandon High School in 1972, Lana worked at the Crandon Nursing Home and later as an Economic Support Specialist for Crandon Social Services in a career that spanned 20 years. During this time, Lana also found time to raise a beautiful family and earn a degree from Nicolet College.
Lana enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and visiting with her family and friends. She enjoyed camping, crocheting and stamping cards. She loved her family more than anything and if there was a school function or a sporting event that one of her grandchildren was participating in, you could be sure that Lana would be there supporting her family.
Lana is survived by her children Marsha (Randy) Schwaller, Chad (Tamarr Vollmar) Palubicki, Hilary (Nathan) Thompson and her brother Jack (Penny) Carter. Lana is further survived by her grandchildren Jake (Alex) Schurr, Brooke (Tyler) Dinan, Joseph (Tori Stelter) Kluss, Lexi and Lauren Schwaller, Caden and Cruz Palubicki, Zandrea and Zatrina McGeshick (Trevor Carter), Hutson, Samara and Brexden Kane, Brielle and Teague Thompson; great-grandchildren Kinsley and Brantley Schurr, Elleonna Kluss; nieces Courtney Hauser and her children Peyton and Lincoln, Ashley and Brittney Carter; nephews Larry (Terri), Corey (Jamie), Brad (Lacey), Ryan (Ashley) and her sister in law Susan Palubicki.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack, and Ruby Carter.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Crandon at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Debra Spira will preside. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. preceding services at church.
