Memorial Services for Richard Scott "Scotty" Conway, will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 29, 2025 with a Memorial Visitation from 9:00 AM until service time at Gallagher Funeral Home, 3994 Monroe Highway in Ball, Louisiana with Reverend Dr. Steve Speer officiating.
If there were ever a "Cheerleader for Life", it would be "Scotty" Conway.
Richard Scott "Scotty" Conway was born on February 10, 1941 to Richard Fenton Conway and Lois Shepherd Conway in Crandon, Wisconsin and passed away at age 84 on May 23, 2025 at Ochsner Lafayette General Hospital.
Scotty was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lois Conway, as well as two daughters, Roxanne Conway and Wendy Conway. He leaves behind his lifetime sweetheart, Linda Russell Conway; 3 children, Kevin (Susan) Conway of Kolin, La, Beaux (Denise) Russell of Pineville, La., Kimberly Crooks of Woodworth, La.; a proud "Grandpa" to 6 grandchildren, Scotty (Megan) Conway, Alaina (John) Mayeux, Matthew (Britain) Crooks, Sean (Baylee) Russell, McKenzie (Ryan) Laborde and Luke (Crystal) Conway; 8 great grandchildren; his brother, Steve (Alma) Conway of Three Lakes, Wisconsin; his lifelong friend, Buck Hunt; a host of family; and his trusty furry friends, Rowdy and Trina.
In 1959 Scotty graduated from Crandon High School and thereafter joined the United States Air Force where he served from 1960-1964. He was stationed at England Air Force Base in Alexandria, Louisiana where he met and married the absolute love of his life, Linda Gail Russell, on December 23, 1960, to whom he has been married for 64 years.
Scotty was employed at A.O. Smith in Milwaukee before he and Linda purchased The Crandon Theater, loving the movie life and having an adventure of which they have incredible memories. After moving to Alexandria, Louisiana, Scotty worked in the oil field, prior to purchasing Karmel Korn in the Alexandria Mall, which he and Linda ran for 21 years. Scotty's next career was at the Paragon Casino Resort, where he served for numerous years in multiple positions including slot machine manager and later, along with his son, as manager of the Paragon Movie Theater.
To say that Scotty was passionate about and appreciated life would be an understatement. One of his many gifts was how he always knew how to offer advice, wisdom and comfort to people no matter the situation. Those who were lucky enough to have known Scotty were truly blessed and enriched by his love, kindness, generosity, and guidance. Additionally, many friends and family were fortunate to receive one of his workshop treasures of refurbished furniture, doll houses and trunks. In addition to people, life and family, another source of pride and joy for Scotty was his 1978 Trans Am hotrod car; it's comforting to know he has crossed the divine finish line. The number of lives affected by Richard Scott Conway cannot be enumerated but we are grateful for all he shared throughout his life. "Well done, good and faithful servant!" Matthew 25:23.
The family wishes to express gratitude and thanks to Fresenius Dialysis Center for the compassion, love, support and care routinely administered to Scotty and also to The Orange Team of the Veterans Administration.
In honor of Richard Scott Conway, please consider purchasing a food or gas gift card and delivering it to a family or person in a waiting room of a dialysis center or cancer treatment center. This will ensure that Scotty's legacy of giving to others continues.
Following the funeral and internment a Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Beaux & Denise Russell in Pineville, La.

Linda, Scott's presence was huge. You and Scott showed me and a lot of others I'm sure what a loving and fun marriage looked like. I know I haven't seen y'all lately but you both hold a big place in my heart. Watching the way you two did life taught me some of the best lessons I could have ever learned. I'm sending a huge hug to all of you. Love, Kathy
