Michael Parrillo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Berarducci Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center - Providence on Oct. 20, 2025.
In Loving Memory of Michael Parrillo Jr.

A Devoted Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend Michael Parrillo Jr., aged 82, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on October 15th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Providence on June 21st, 1943, to Michael and Julia (Zangari) Parrillo Sr., Mike was the embodiment of warmth, devotion, and integrity throughout his life.

Mike's family was the center of his world. He is survived by his two sons: Michael Parrillo and his wife Cindy of Tampa, and Jason Parrillo of Johnston, along with Jason's mother Nancy Parrillo. He also leaves behind his brother Anthony Parrillo and his wife Cindy of Cranston, and five beloved grandchildren, Ethan, Joseph, Matthew, Elijah and Sofia whom he adored deeply along with many nieces and nephews. Mike cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, finding joy and meaning in his role as a grandfather. He was preceded in death by his sister Diane Parrillo and three brothers: Joseph, Richard, and Ronnie Parrillo.

His enduring love for family was matched only by his loyalty and compassion for those around him.

Mike was a proud member of Local 251 and a passionate Harley Davidson enthusiast. He found solace and excitement in long rides with friends, especially those that ended with good food and laughter. His union brothers held a special place in his heart, and his commitment to their well-being was unwavering. Known for his quick wit and kindness, Mike never hesitated to stand up for anyone in need, embodying a true spirit of friendship and camaraderie.

He enjoyed playing Poker and Gin Rummy, watching NASCAR, and savoring an occasional glass of wine, always surrounding himself with friends and family. Politically aware and active within his community, Mike was respected for his integrity and dedication, qualities that made him a true friend.

Michael shone as a radiant beacon of hope during his tenure as president of Teamsters Local 251 Retirees Chapter from 2009 until the onset of his illness. His commitment to retirees was unwavering; he listened to their stories, understood their needs, and worked tirelessly to ensure their voices were heard and respected.

As president, Michael was more than an advocate-he was a champion for those who served before him. His leadership inspired unity and pride among members, reminding everyone of the dignity and value of retirement after years of hard work. Michael's compassion extended far beyond the retirees he represented. He played a pivotal role in establishing a food pantry for children in the family court system through CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). This initiative reflected his belief in supporting the most vulnerable members of the community. At every chapter meeting, he encouraged active members to donate food for his beloved "CASA kids," fostering a culture of generosity and empathy. Always tireless and unwavering in his advocacy, Michael made a tangible difference in the lives of countless children. His legacy of kindness and dedication continues in the families and retirees who found inspiration in his leadership and generosity.

In honoring Mike's legacy, his family invites all who cherished him to celebrate a life well-lived-one marked by warmth, camaraderie, and unwavering support for those he loved. As memories of his laughter and generosity linger, let us gather in remembrance, sharing stories that highlight his remarkable character and the countless lives he touched.

May his spirit inspire us to carry forward his kindness and dedication, keeping his memory alive in the hearts of those who knew him best. May he rest in eternal peace until we all meet again.

A Mass of Christian Burial to which family and friends are respectfully invited to attend, will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church, Johnston, on Saturday, November 1st., at 11am. Burial will be private.

Mike was the best neighbor and friend anyone could have. He was helpful, funny and always willing to dig in on any project. He loved racing and often went with Dave even to Talledega when he came to visit. Loved his humor and advice. Will always miss him. Donna and Dave Turgeon
