Michael D. Petock

Michael D. Petock, 95, passed away peacefully on February 21st, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and steadfast devotion to family and country. He was the beloved husband of 70 years to Elaine (Figura) Petock, a partnership that stood as a beautiful testament to lifelong commitment and lasting love.

Michael proudly served his nation in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant in the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), a special warfare unit now known as the Green Berets. He served during the Korean War with courage and honor, embodying the quiet strength and integrity that would define his life.

After attending Bethlehem Business School, Michael dedicated 30 years of hard work to Mack Trucks before retiring. Throughout his life, he worked multiple jobs, including time at Bethlehem Steel and as a trusted tax preparer, serving his community with the same diligence.

Michael was an avid aviation enthusiast and proud member of the Lehigh Valley Flying Club and the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 70. He also belonged to the American Legion. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially when shared with multiple generations of family, creating memories and bonds that will be cherished for years to come.

Known for his strong faith, moral character, and steady guidance, Michael served as a patriarch to the Gavalla family and generations beyond. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael K. Petock and Anna (Mehalik) Petock, and siblings Nicholas, Anna, Mary, Verna, Catherine, John, Raymond, and Harold. He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m., on February 28th at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. Interment to follow mass at the church cemetery in Coplay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to St. Peter R.C. Church.
