Michael (Mike) James Phebus, 66 passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Doey's House in Hagerstown, MD after a long battle with cancer.
Mike was born on February 26, 1958 in Tacoma Park, MD and was the eldest son of James W and Joan L Phebus of Hagerstown, MD. The Phebus family moved to Thurmont, MD in 1966 and he graduated in 1976 from Catoctin High school. While in high school Mike enjoyed playing saxophone and was in the Jazz Band.
Mike spent many years in the construction industry where his company was involved in building of many houses around the area and he was known as a skilled trim carpenter. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved to watch football and nascar.
In addition to his parents, Mike is survived by brothers John Phebus of Blue Ridge Summit, PA and Chuck Phebus of Hagerstown, sisters Kathy (Jeff) Subleski of Boonsboro and Connie (Brent) Spear of Smithsburg along with honorary sister Terri L Bowers, Waynesboro, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Steven E Phebus and sister-in-law Christine C Phebus.
Family will receive friends Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 1 pm with a service to follow at 2 pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg, MD 21783.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Washington County 1710 Underpass Way, Suite 300 Hagerstown, MD 21740 or Doey's House of Hagerstown, MD.
Arrangements were made with J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, and online condolences can be offered at www.jldavisfh.com.
