Richard "Rick" Robert Phebus, Sr., 72, of Baker, WV, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the Winchester Medical Center.
He was born on December 3, 1952, the son of the late Robert A. Phebus and Wilda Pauline Smith Phebus. Rick was an Electronic Engineer and worked for the United States Government for over 30 years in the Department of Veteran Affairs. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Baker, WV. Rick enjoyed fishing, hunting, working outside, replacing and improving trees, and taking care of his family. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the Petersburg American Legion Post 78.
Rick married Katherine "Kathie" F. (Heare) Phebus on February 2 0, 1972, at Zion Lutheran Church in Baker, WV.
Surviving with his wife of 53 years are one son, Richard R. Phebus (Dawn) of Idaho; one daughter, Amy T. Phebus of Baker, WV; four grandchildren, Cassandra, Rachel, Wyatt, and Gabriel; one sister, Peggy A. Phebus of Baker, WV;
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. at the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home in Wardensville, WV with Pastor Sherwin Tharp and Pastor Gary Koontz officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountainview Veterinary Services, 309 Virginia Ave., Petersburg, WV 26847.
