Swedberg Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. - ShawanoMichael Joseph Pocan, Sr., age 62, of Neopit, passed away on Monday March 2, 2026, in Green Bay. Michael was born on July 7, 1963, in Chicago to the late James and Yvonne “Posey” (Lyons) Pocan. He attended Tribal School in Menominee County and graduated from high school in South Dakota. Michael was a National State Golden Gloves Boxer. On February 22, 1997, he was united in marriage to Tonya Reiter at St. Michael Catholic Church. Together the couple spent a wonderful 22 years together before her passing in 2019. In Michael’s free time, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, watching WWE and was an Packers fan. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit. Michael loved spending time with his family doing cookouts especially spending time with the grandchildren. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; he will be deeply missed.
Michael is survived by her children, Samantha (Michael) Grignon, Justine “Bunz” Peters, Catherine “RinRin” Pocan, Raeshene “Beeyah” (Dorian) Pocan, James “Bronco” (Kelsey) Pocan and Meshan Michael James “Bub” Pocan, Jr.; Thor Pocan, his boy dog; grandchildren, Kaylupe “Yup-Yup”, Kiyrah “Bagira”, Waldon “Walldink”, III., Tayson “Bug”, Clayton, Blayke, Jerred, Noah, Tonya, Amara, Lando, Mila Jade, Veda, Melina, Josie Lynn and a new grandbaby on the way; and siblings, Arlene (Joe) Wayka, Duke Pocan, Violet (Pete) White, Alfred Newton, Jr., and Debra Pocan. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his loving wife, Tonya; siblings, Wayne Lyons, Chuckie Pocan and Rhys Pocan; and parents, James and Yvonne “Posey” Pocan.
A funeral mass for Michael will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday March 5, 2026, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Keshena with Fr. Hanz Christian officiating. Visitation will be held at the Zoar Ceremonial Building starting on Tuesday March 3, 2026, from 2:00 pm until 10:15 am on Thursday when the procession leaves for the church.
