Michael Edwin Pollard, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, in Akron, Ohio, at the age of 66. Born on August 11, 1959, in Akron, he embodied a spirit of kindness and selflessness that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
After working four years in the oil fields in Texas, Michael began a career as a machinist which was a testament to his dedication and skill. He attended Cuyahoga Falls High School and pursued further education at Machinist Trade School, where he honed the talents that he would carry with him throughout his life.
Those who knew Michael recognized him as a meticulous individual. He took pride in keeping everything around him organized, both inside and outside his home. His neighbors came to cherish the sight of him caring for his property, embodying the essence of a man who found joy in nurturing his surroundings.
A generous soul, he was the epitome of selflessness; he would do anything for anybody. Whether it was helping a neighbor or lending a hand to family, Michael’s giving nature left a profound impact on everyone he encountered. His mother, Sandra Pollard, recalls with great pride a particularly remarkable feat where he stepped up to install a fence for her, digging all the post holes and building a deck from scratch. These memories highlight not just his skills but also his unwavering love for family, always putting their needs before his own.
Michael's passion for life extended beyond his career; he enjoyed a good yard sale and had an inexplicable affinity for tools—he truly never met a tool he didn't need! Buying them used and often broken, he loved to tinker and repair them to “like factory” condition. He embraced adventure and freedom passionately, having fallen in love with motorcycles from a young age, starting with dirt bikes and finally realizing his dream of owning a Harley Davidson in 2015.
Over the years, Michael built lasting friendships, notably with Mark Bell, his best friend of 40 years, who shared in countless adventures and cherished memories. He was also a devoted companion to “Kissy Face” Ginger, who provided him with unwavering love and loyalty.
Michael is survived by his loving mother, Sandra Pollard; his brothers Brad and Jeff (Jocelyn) Pollard; his nieces and nephews - Jessica Thomas, Danielle Engelman, Marcus (Jessica) Hardy, and Tyler (Katie) Hardy; great-nieces and nephews Brandyn, Rhylan, Addilyn, Kai, and Ryley; his dear aunt, Vicky Moore; and his best friend, Mark (Kathy) Bell. Michael’s legacy of love and kindness will continue to thrive through the lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his father, George "Ed" Pollard; his sisters, Jennifer Thomas and Laura Hardy; and his significant other, Loreen Wheeler. The love he shared with them lives on in the hearts of those who remain, forever honoring the memories of his cherished spirit.
As we remember Michael Edwin Pollard, we celebrate a life marked by generosity, friendship, and love—a heart that always sought to uplift others. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of calling him family and friend.
