Michael Richards

William Michael "Mike" Richards, age 68, of Jewett passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Mike was born in Wheeling, WV, the son of William Alvin Richards and the late Joan Spurrier Richards.
Mike, or Pappap, as his kids and grandchildren called him, worked at Republic Engineered Steel for over 30 years and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion of Scio.
He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Ethel in 1974. And they built their home and family on Jewett-Scio Road where family and friends have gathered and created cherished memories for decades.
Pappap was an incredibly giving man and knew no stranger. He loved to be surrounded by his family; his house was always filled with the noise of his kids, grandkids, and other visitors. He could often be found sipping on coffee at his kitchen table or driving his gator through the old cow fields on his property. He was a friend to all and would do anything to help anyone.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife Ethel and his son Andy.
In addition to his father he is survived by his daughters, Joanna (Tucker) Culver, Brittany (Ryan) Wood, and his daughter in law, Tricia Richards. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Tirzah Curry, Nessa Culver, Payton Culver, Aubrey and Emerson Wood, Kylie, Evie, and Declan Richards. Mike also leaves behind his siblings, Susan, Curt, John, Leeann and Allison, his sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held Wednesday from 11 am to 2 pm in Koch Funeral Home, 101 W Main St, Scio. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 3 pm in Hanover Cemetery, 87960 Hovanick Rd, Scio with Pastor Dixie Hendricks officiating. www.kochfuneral.com
