Sherry Dale Compher, age 80, of Scio, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh after a sudden illness.

Born September 23, 1944, in Whittier, CA, she was a daughter of the late Dale Snodgrass and Pearl Kuhn Snodgrass. She graduated from Hopedale High School in 1962 and received certification as a licensed cosmetologist and salon manager from the former Steubenville Cosmetology School. She worked for the USPS at the New Rumley and Scio Post Offices for many years prior to working for the Area Agency on Aging in Byesville.

Growing up, Sherry was a member of the Hopedale Methodist Church. She also loved to visit her grandparents' farm that started her life-long love of animals. A wonderful cook and baker, she took pride in gardening and canning the vegetables she grew to use in her recipes, especially the zucchini relish she made for her delicious macaroni salad. She also enjoyed crocheting. Sherry was loving and giving, always sharing her time and talents, especially with children.

Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Clyde E. Compher, sons David (Marcia) Compher and Michael (Vonda) Compher, both of New Rumley, grandchildren Sarah (Erin) Compher, Shannon (Devin) Bailey and Grace and Tobias Barnhart, great grandchildren Willow, Paisley and Truett and a sister Bonnie Hayton of Florida.

Services will be held Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11 am in Koch Funeral Home, Scio with Pastor Mike Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Jewett. Friends may call Thursday, September 4th from 5-8 pm and Friday September 5th from 10-11 am prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrison County 4-H Committee, c/o OSU Extension Office, 538 N Main St, Ste H, Cadiz, Ohio, 43907.
