Michael "Mikey" Jay Richardson, known affectionately as Mike to his friends and family, road his train to Heaven on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on December 9, 1968 in Bloomington, Mike's life was one marked by generosity, humor, and a deep commitment to the Ellettsville community.
Mike's journey through life was shared with his beloved wife, Hope Richardson. He is also survived by his daughters, Lacy Richardson and Grace Mae Owens. His legacy of love and laughter lives on through his brother, William Richardson, and William's children, Teagan and Shyla. Mike's family circle was wide and full of joy, including his step-children, Jonathon (Kim) Boruff, Jason (Mya) Rogers, and Jessica (Danny) Gonzalez, as well as his adored grandchildren, Aaron and Julian Sharda Miller, Jonathon Jr., Logan, Abby, and Adaya Boruff, Adriana Primo, and Jordan "Sammy" Gonzalez, and Davina Bowling. He was a cherished son-in-law to Bonnie J. Boruff and a respected brother-in-law to John (Marlena) Boruff, surrounded by many loving nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Laura and Glen Richardson; his mother, Laura "Sue" Richardson; and his cousins, Kevin and Eddie Richardson. Their memories were a guiding light in his life, and their influence was evident in the kindness and warmth he extended to everyone he met.
For 24 years, Mike dedicated his professional life to the Town of Ellettsville, where he was not only a valued employee but also a friend to all. His colleagues at the town will remember him for his unwavering dedication, his ability to bring a smile to anyone's face, and his genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of the residents he served. Mike's heart was truly at home when he was with his grandchildren, whom he spoiled with love and attention. His playful spirit and generous nature made him the grandparent every child dreams of, and his absence will be deeply felt at family gatherings, where his laughter once filled the room. Those who knew Mike will remember him as the epitome of friendliness. His generous spirit was as boundless as his sense of humor, which he shared freely with all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Mike's ability to light up a room with his presence and leave a lasting impression on the hearts of those around him was truly remarkable.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Noon at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville with Bob and Sue Richardson officiating. Burial is to follow at Beech Cemetery in Coal City. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again one hour prior to the service on Friday.
