W.L. Case & Company Funeral Directors - MackinawMichael Robert Enright
Beloved husband, father, and grandfather Michael Robert Enright passed away on November 1, 2025, at the age of 79, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. The oldest of Robert and Ilene Enright’s five children, Mike was born on January 20, 1946, in Austin, Minnesota.
After graduating from Mankato State University in Minnesota, Mike accepted a teaching job in Bridgeport, Michigan. It was there that he met the love of his life — his wife of nearly 54 years, Paulette. Mike and Paulette eventually settled in Saginaw, Michigan, with their four daughters: Kim (Larrs) Morey, Shawn, Amanda, and Ashley Enright (Phil Essenmacher). Mike was thrilled to become a grandfather and cherished the time he spent with his four grandchildren: Sasha and Sawyer Seegobin, and Bella and Nick Morey.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Ilene Enright. In addition to his loving family, he is survived by countless friends, as well as his four siblings: Cindy (Roger) Swanson, John (Sandy), Jim, and Joe Enright.
Mike had a successful insurance business for 34 years, but his true passion in life was teaching. He taught English, history, and public speaking at Bridgeport-Spaulding Middle School for 32 years. He also gave inservices for teachers at schools across the country and served as a mentor for student teachers at Central Michigan University. Even after retiring, he continued teaching lifelong learning classes and founded discussion groups in both Saginaw, Michigan, and The Villages, Florida.
Mike loved public speaking and was active in Toastmasters International for many years. Twice, he was one step away from the World Championship of Public Speaking. He enjoyed giving presentations on topics ranging from famous historical figures to how to stay happy as we age. Mike also loved playing golf, tennis, pickleball, and Texas Hold ’Em.
Mike and Paulette bought a home in The Villages in 2004, and after being snowbirds for several years, sold their home in Michigan and became Villages “frogs.” True to the name, Mike was, in fact, there until he croaked — if you knew Mike, you know he definitely loved that joke!
Mike was a teacher and a friend to all who knew him. His life motto was “Look for the best in others,” and he embodied it every single day. His humor, optimism, and enthusiasm will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at Andersen Enrichment Center in Saginaw on Sunday, November 16. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:30 pm and the ceremony will be held from 2-4 pm.
Mike believed in giving back as much as possible, so in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Action Against Hunger, or the Cornerstone Hospice House of The Villages, Florida.
