Michael G. Rojahn, 82 of Dallastown passed away peacefully at Hospice & Community Care in Mt. Joy on Saturday, September 23, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 51 years to the late Shirley A. (Zimmerman) Rojahn until her passing on September 2, 2018.
Born October 20, 1940 in York, he was a son of the late Phillip J. and Elvida A. (Spotz) Rojahn.
Michael was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He practiced a number of hobbies, including woodworking, fishing, hunting, music, archery, and photography. The histories of WWII and the American West captivated his imagination throughout his lifetime. Memories of his childhood in Dallastown during the forties and fifties were always present in his conversations. Michael was ahead of his time in destigmatizing mental health for his family. But his greatest legacy is being one of the rare individuals in life who actually embodies unconditional love. Dad was a 'safe space' for everyone and anyone, long before our culture had that term.
Mr. Rojahn is survived by two children: Alicia Rojahn and Matthew Rojahn; five grandchildren: Owen Terroso, Olivia Terroso, Isaiah Rojahn, Nathan Rojahn and Hannah Rojahn; three siblings: Tim Rojahn and his wife Jane, Julie Zart and her husband Harry and Amy McNamara and her husband Bill, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Michael's life will be held on Saturday, September 30th at 11am at Bethlehem Life Church; 109 E. Main St. in Dallastown with Pastor David Stough officiating. Interment will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will also be on Saturday at the church from 10am until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project; P.O. Box 758516: Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or online at support.woundedwarriorproject.org. Donations may also be made to Johns Hopkins Parkinson's Disease Center; 731 North Broadway, Suite 733; Baltimore, MD 21224, or to a charity of your choice.
